Annotated Wireframes
After gaining valuable feedback from our usability studies, we began creating wireframes of our full system. The store analytics feature took away from primary goal of assisting record shop employees manage their inventory, so it was removed. The annotated wireframes emphasize our purpose of inventory management while also giving a detailed overview of our website’s functionality. Each annotation describes the functionality of the corresponding feature. We also show the flow of screens for our three key tasks. These frames were collaboratively created using Figma.
High-Fidelity
Mock-up
The high-fidelity mockups are a professional display of all the work that we have done throughout this quarter. The final design decisions incorporated into the screens were informed by an intimate understanding of our user group, multiple design iterations, and critiques from our users and peers. They represent a solution which meets our user’s needs.
The design reflects the classic nostalgic record shop vibe through its use of retro colors and bold album art. From our user research, we learned that each store has a unique organization system. Having multiple inventory views, filters, and sort options allows the user to manage their inventory how they want, embracing this aspect of record shops. Creating a high-fidelity mockup was essential to bring life to our designs and more effectively communicate our solutions.
Reflection

One of our biggest challenges was focusing our project was choosing between record shop employees or customers to be our target users. Even after narrowing our users, we wanted to address many different pain points of employees and struggled to balance and focus them into an appropriate design solution. Ultimately, our users just want a solution that is simple, and this helped us to eliminate features and focus our efforts towards addressing our problem statement.
Due to the limited time frame of this project, and busy record store employees, we did not conduct as much user research as we would have liked. Given that this is such a sensitive, tech-resistant design space, conducting more user research would have helped us gain a better understanding of the barriers record shop employees face regarding tech adoption. Additional research would also help to validate, or maybe refocus, our design solution.
