Overview
This project spanned ten weeks during the Winter 2019 quarter at the University of Washington as part of HCDE 318: Introduction to User Centered Design, an upper division course in the department of Human Centered Design and Engineering. We built a website-based inventory solution called “The Record Shop” to support owners and employees of record shops.
Problem Statement
Record shops are one of the few subcultures that has resisted technology entering their spaces and impeding the nostalgic atmosphere. Given the lack of technology solutions and an increasingly popular collector’s market for vinyl, employees struggle to price and keep track of inventory while maintaining a welcoming environment for their customers.

Vision Statement
We hope that our solution will help record store employees become more efficient at completing their everyday tasks so they can have more time to do what they love: connect customers with great music. Our website provides a quick and user-friendly way to manage inventory while also being highly specific to the needs of record shop employees.
